Birgid has responsibility for the strategic development of Research and Enterprise at the Open University, the UK’s largest academic institution and a global leader in the provision of flexible and inspiring learning.

The research objective is to sustain and develop the Open University’s presence in areas that are nationally and internationally recognised, while expanding research activity which makes a key contribution to the University’s third mission agenda.
