Dr Bassem heads up Tomoh Advisory, a financial and strategic advisory practice based in Dubai. Previously, he served as Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Jordan and Director of the Office of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. Dr Bassem also served as Minister of Finance of Jordan, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan, Director of the Economic Department at the Royal Hashemite Court, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Jordan and Economic Secretary to the Prime Minister of Jordan. Prior to his positions in Jordan, Dr Bassem worked in the investment banking field in the UK.

He is the recipient of Al Hussein Medal for Distinguished Service, the Al Kawkab Decoration of the First Order of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Al Istiqlal Decoration of the First Order of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He was chosen as a Lee Kuan Yew Fellow in 2005, as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and received a number of high decorations from several countries in Europe and Asia.
