Kamal Ahmed
Chief Operating Officer, Economic Development Board, Kingdom of Bahrain
Kamal is part of the EDB senior leadership team working alongside its Chairman and Chief Executive. The EDB is responsible for formulating and overseeing the economic development strategy of Bahrain, and for creating the right climate to attract direct investment into the Kingdom. Particularly, Kamal has had a key role in some of EDB’s strategic initiatives, including: leading the team tasked with formulating The National Economic Strategy and Vision 2030 document which defined the country’s economic aspirations and targets for society and government. He is also involved in implementing Bahrain’s Education Reform,
particularly in the diagnostic phase and in establishing the Quality Assurance Authority (QAA), Bahrain Teacher’s College, and the Bahrain Polytechnic.
Kamal Ahmed was appointed to this role in January 2007 after two years as Director of Projects at the EDB where he led the Projects Department in facilitating the implementation of the Kingdom’s reform initiatives. He is also a member of several boards, including Bahrain Development Bank, the Bahrain Airport Company and the Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training. |
