At present, Tineke is responsible for group 8 (the eldest class of pupils) at The Beacon, a school in the Dutch town of Werkendam. Having completed her studies at the Marnix Academy (college of education) in Utrecht, she has been a teacher for 10 years, mainly with older children.

In 2009 she was named as teacher of the year from more than 1,000 entrants.
