Waleed spearheaded the Next Generation Conference on the Youth Bulge and Educational & Employment Challenges facing the Arab World, held under the patronage of Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan in April 2008. The Next Generation Conference (NGC) drew attention to the thorny unemployment challenges facing the youth in the Arab World, as well as reforms needed to address the mismatch between educational outputs and labour market requirements. By advocating public-private partnerships for job creation and training, NGC aimed to highlight the role of the private sector and NGO’s in supporting education and employment opportunities in the region.

He serves on many committees within the private and public sectors in the region including as Regional MENA Chairman Young Presidents’ Organisation, Member Board of Directors - INJAZ Saudi (Junior Achievement), and Member of the Board of Directors of the Education for Employment Foundation (EFE) in Washington DC.
